The Yellow Rose – New and Improved
We have been to this club several times and it happens to be one of our favorites. Last week, they were closed for a few days for remodeling. I was super excited to check it out because they had posted on Facebook that everything had changed.
They renovated the main stage to add an awesome light show, added granite counter tops to the bar and added a dome in the ceiling of the foyer. We went on Wednesday because they were reopening for lunch that day and had the “Rack City” event with guest DJ’s. We had a busy week and figured it would be nice to go have a drink, relax, talk and check out what they had done to the place.
The parking lot was packed for a Wednesday. I figured they would be busy since they had just reopened but busy was an understatement. The place was packed. It took forever for the waitress to find us a seat. They had a few VIP open which were 50 dollars but didn’t have a great view of the stage. We ended up finding a table right next to the side stage which was fine but it was also right next to an amp or something so I was pretty much deaf and uncomfortable the whole time we were there.
REVIEW: Sugar’s San Antonio

We actually went to Sugar’s to see one of my fiance’s friends that he hadn’t seen in a while. She dances there so she was able to get us in with no charge. This Sugar’s is a big step up from the one in Austin. There is a main stage right in the middle of the club and then 2 small side stages. When we walked in, the waitress was super nice and offered to find us a table. The tables near the stage were 50 dollars and that to me, was crazy. I didn’t want to pay that so we sat in the very back corner of the club near one of the small side stages. We still had a good view of the main stage but I was irritated that they were going to charge us. They had a separate back room but told us it was closed since it was a Sunday. (Although it was super busy for a Sunday). The waitress told my fiance there would be a 50 dollar hold on his card but did not make him sign anything. We were just happy she told him.
The decor in this club is interesting..there was one arcade game and a moose head on the wall. It needed an upgrade in my opinion but it wasn’t really distracting so it was ok.
The women’s restroom was back through the dressing room which I hate, but I only went back there once by myself and got the stare down then I made our dancer friend walk me to the restroom for the rest of the night.
The waitress was awesome and the manager even checked on us a few times. I am assuming it was because we knew someone who worked there but it was still nice.
After a while, I asked our friend to walk me to VIP so I could check it out. It was completely empty but they had a fireplace and 2 decent sized stages. We ended up paying for VIP which was 100 dollars for the whole night for our whole party. I think we ended up with 4 strippers back there with us too. It was a PARTY. Our friend was the only one that gave me a lap dance and she let me touch wherever I wanted. She then gave my fiance a dance and our other friend got one from one of the other dancers. We were all pleased. I am pretty sure we had the hottest girls working there in VIP all to ourselves. That made it even more fun.
Downside to clubs in San Antonio…PASTIES. It is a law there that they have to wear pasties. So disappointed. But that is not fault of the club, I just know I won’t be moving to San Antonio! I don’t think the pasties lasted long once we got to VIP though.
I don’t feel this is a fair review since we did kind of have the “Special Treatment” but I will say I have talked to many strippers in my time and these girls LOVE each other. They protect each other from rude customers, they are all best friends and even management was treating the dancers like family. It was really cool to get to talk to them about that. Our friend from San Antonio said this is one of the best clubs there though so I still recommend checking it out. They have really good drinks, the people who work there are all super nice and we had a great time.
REVIEW: The Yellow Rose Update

We headed back to the Yellow Rose after leaving Sugar’s Cabaret. This was our second time here so I just wanted to add a few things that I noticed this time around.
You have to pay your cover in cash. I guess we didn’t catch that last time because he just gave them cash but this time, he tried to pay with his card. I think it is good to know that going in so you don’t have to take cash out of their expensive ATM.
Walking in here was like a weight lifted off of our shoulders after the experience at Sugar’s. The girls were hot. I think there were only 2-3 that we didn’t find attractive. They all dance on their poles and I love watching it. The restroom was clean other than the pile of puke that was on the floor. It was new so I can’t hold that against the club. It was a Wednesday but still pretty busy.
I was irritated though because the front entrance says this is a non-smoking facility but there were members of staff smoking inside and that led to another customer smoking as well.
We did get approached for a dance once even though I wore a short dress, and tipped at the stage. That dancers gets credit for being the only one that offered.
We had fun here again and this is becoming one of our favorite clubs. I highly recommend visiting!

REVIEW: Sugar’s Uptown Cabaret

We should have known when we pulled up and we were in the ghetto that we should have turned around.
But let me start with the good though. They have a huge parking lot and valet parking. Before we saw the parking lot, we decided we were going to leave if it was dead but there were actually several cars there when we pulled up. We paid 10 dollars each when we walked in and were walked to a table by our waitress. We had a table pretty close to the stage. They preauthorized the card for 120 dollars but again, notified us that this was happening which was nice. We both had margaritas and they were actually good. She also let us know that bottles were half off which was nice since we didn’t see that advertised anywhere. This is a non smoking club which is a definite plus for me. Each girl danced on stage for at least 3 songs which was longer than usual. Our waitress was really sweet and did check on us often so I will give them props for that.
They had a decent sized stage with one pole but no side stages. The VIP section was a step above but didn’t offer much privacy. They did have a full bar but I don’t think they offered beer on tap.
The reason we decided to go to Sugar’s was because it was costume night. I want to give a shout out to Rebecca here because she was chatting with me yesterday and pointed that out. Rebecca, you’re awesome! =)
As soon as we walked in, I could tell no one was dressed up. There was one sorry attempt of a naughty school girl but it was seriously weak. I hate to be a bitch, but that’s why I write. The girls were at best…a three. I’m not joking. I was terrified that one of them was going to ask us for a dance. We didn’t stay long because as the girls came in to work, it wasn’t getting better. Most of them were overweight and had saggy stomachs that hung over their panty line. The waitresses were better looking. I just wasn’t feeling it. In Sugar’s defense, there were quite a few men there that were having a blast and spending money. So they must be appealing to some people.
The restroom was disgusting. There was one roll of toilet paper between the 3 stalls and you can tell it isn’t serviced frequently. I would consider visiting again on a weekend to give them a second chance if I knew they would clean the restroom.
We left after not being there for very long and went to the Yellow Rose.
I wouldn’t discourage you from ever going here, it does have better reviews than mine on Yelp, but I would recommend going on a weekend so the girls are of a higher quality.
REVIEW: Curves Cabaret Update

We decided to go back to Curves on Wednesday night after our less than satisfying experience at Club Turbulence. You can read about it here. This club was packed again.
I won’t go through the beginning again but I do need to note that you have to have cash to pay cover. The cover is cheap and most people will bring cash to the club but I thought I would mention it, just in case.
We were approached for a dance within the first 30 minutes. One girl came over and actually approached me and asked if we wanted a dance. I told her yes and then they called her to the stage. I told her we would love one when she was done but I didn’t expect her back. After she got done on her 4 stages though, she was right back over sitting with us. I was VERY impressed by this. She waited until the next new song started and I told her we wanted to both get a dance. She was a little confused so I just told her we would pay her for 2 dances and she would dance one of me and one of him. She was VERY good at lady lap dances. She put her face in my chest, lifted up my legs and danced in between them and ran her lips along my neck. She had me really turned on when she was done.
We sat there for probably another 30 minutes and we were approached again. I told the dancer (Paris) yes to a dance and she was surprised. I asked if that happens often and she said no but it is a compliment. I told her it was a compliment to me as well that she was brave and open enough to approach a couple. She said a lot of women that go in there are snotty and get jealous when their man gets a dance. We talked about how it does no good for a couple to visit a club if those feelings are what surface. She was very sweet and talkative while being very sexy. She gave us each a dance even better than the first one we had. When she was done, she was sitting with my man and I asked her what the difference in the Player’s Lounge and the Champagne Room was. She said there was no difference and then asked if we wanted to go back there. My man asked her about price and then agreed that we would go. It wasn’t super private but the extra attention we got was worth it.
It started with her just talking to us for a little bit. She told she was a lesbian and had some girl troubles that day so she was glad she met us and we were so open. She started dancing on us separately then said she was long enough to do both. So we each got the ends we like most. I got boob, he got butt. We were in the room with one or 2 other people but no one was paying attention to each other. At least not that I saw.
